Level 1 – Beginners – 6-week course

Unlock your dog`s hidden potential with scent work! These classes are the perfect introduction into the world of scent work for you and your dog. Not only will you learn the practical elements but also the science behind the olfactory system (sense of smell) and how truly amazing your dog’s nose really is!  

What you will learn –
About scent and how your dog’s nose works
Equipment needed for training
How to prevent contamination of scent articles
How to teach your dog to locate and indicate on the target scent (RED KONG)
Building a freeze indication on the target scent
How to reward your dog for identifying the scent and how to read your dog’s indication
Building your dogs confidence in searching different items and novel articles – these will include pots, pipes, boxes, chairs, bags etc.

Dogs of all ages, abilities and breeds are welcome. Please note these classes are not suitable for severely reactive, fearful or aggressive dogs – please contact us to discuss how we can help with these issues. One to one scent work sessions are also available.
