Welcome to our beginner fun gundog class! This course is for anyone who would like to get a taste for what gundog training is all about. Whether you want to learn for fun or progress to work your pet dog, this is a great place to start.
This course is suitable for any breed/type of dog and any ability handler, not just gundogs. We have everything from terriers to Dobermans who love these classes just as much as the labs and spaniels!
Level 1 – Foundations
Exercises will include:
- Placeboard training
- Whistle training
- Heelwork on and off lead
- Recall
- Steadiness around distractions
- Wait & Stay
- Impulse Control
- Directional Cues
- Start of retrieve training
- Marked Retrieve
And much more!
All training is reward based and force free. We use food, toys, and games to build and maintain desire and motivation. All exercises are broken down into easily achievable steps to build confidence in both dog and handler.
Please note – there will be NO guns fired and all retrieves are with dummies/toys.
Equipment required:
We do have extra dummies and long lines you may borrow during the lesson.
- Bring your dog in a normal flat collar.
- A well fitted harness
- A normal clip-on lead (Halti training lead is recommended)
- Acme whistle 211.5
- Dummy
- Toy
- High value treats, plus a treat bag
- Long line (approx. 5metres)
